Strength Shields & Sisterhood

Last week, I had the privilege of facilitating a Family Empowerment Night with the incredible ladies of Marguerite's Place, Inc.where I volunteer time and tips on resilience and well-being.

And yet what they teach me on these subjects is simply profound. Yes, we accomplished our objective for the evening...creating personalized Strength Shields based on their individual strengths and creative expressions.

When the brain is focused on individual strengths, it prioritizes positivity. When these strengths are thoughtfully and intentionally applied to a goal, we are more likely to achieve it....and keep the positivity going.

And yet, in their transitional housing journey to safety, stability and independence--this liminal space--it was obvious that the greatest strength of these ladies comes from the community and connection they share with each other.

And during our evening together, the experience of witnessing the power, positivity and purpose that comes with THAT left me both joyful and breathless as I caught myself sitting back and watching the chatter, chuckles, hugs and more.

Thank you, ladies of Marguerite's, for an evening of laughter, insight and mutually shared lessons.

The very next day, I attended the annual Women Inspiring Women conference in Manchester, NH, hosted by the visionary Leslie Sturgeon and shared a table with genuinely inspirational women whom all seamlessly connected and clicked.

It was like the magic of Marguerite's Place had been sprinkled amongst our program guides and center pieces.

It struck me how quickly connection can form when women show up as they are—whether in a transitional housing community or at a conference table.

Different spaces, different stories… yet the same quiet truth. We are stronger, braver, and more resilient together. And sometimes, the most powerful thing we can do is simply create the space for that connection to unfold.
