clutter—The Silent sabotoger
Our PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT is a key part of your Wheel of Health — right up there with sleep, nutrition, movement, mental well-being, purpose, mindfulness, & community!
It includes:
Your home environment
Your neighborhood
Your workplace culture
And most importantly — whether you feel SAFE and SATISFIED in those spaces
It’s fascinating how often clients respond “My physical environment!” when asked,
“What’s holding you back?”
And more specifically — “Clutter!” when I ask,
“How so?
So many ah-ha and uh-oh moments arise when we see how external clutter (like those bookshelves, mud rooms, and home offices!) mirrors our internal mental clutter.
Like the trees shedding leaves, this season invites us to let go — of stuff, stress, and space-takers — and make room for a new chapter.
And with the holidays coming, many of us are also preparing to add festive touches to our homes.
I was surprised to feel the impact (almost derailment??) of my own Wheel of Health when my physical environment was recently turned upside down with a months-long empty-nesting home improvement project. Now that it's complete, our space is organized, and my mind is not pre-occupied with the finding the perfect area rug...I can generate content again :)
So, as we head into the long weekend…
How will YOU support this part of your well-being?
P.S. Good luck if that involves RAKING the clutter of dead (yet lovely) leaves in your yard!
P.P.S. #CatToysAreMyClutter!
